The EU began to enforce its new data protection regulation called the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation or Regulation (EU) 2016/679) since May 25, 2018. Many people would also know that this was perhaps the most significant privacy regulation created anywhere in 20 years of the Internet.
Juven takes the privacy and security of our customers very seriously, not just in the EU, but everywhere in the world. This is because our previous incarnation was involved with some of the very first Internet privacy laws in Hong Kong.
So far, though Juven is a Hong Kong company, nevertheless we have begun to take steps to address GDPR compliance as we are a company with an international outlook and will want to do business in the EU. As a record depository for all the data from your events, memberships and donations, we are committed to making it easier for data controllers to also comply with their obligations under the GDPR. We have an updated privacy policy that reflects our notice obligations under the GDPR. We have updated our terms of service that address GDPR subprocessing requirements. Moreover, We will make technical changes to our platform that will enable us to help users, organization admins and event organizers comply with the enhanced data subject rights in GDPR.
We are committed to your privacy and security.
Are you ready for GDPR?
If you’re not prepared for the GDPR, you’re not alone. According to one study by the World Federation of Advertisers, 70% of marketers in global organizations said marketers in their companies were not fully aware of the implications of GDPR.
GDPR does have a huge footprint on the Internet and eCommerce, with jurisdiction that extends well past the borders of the EU, to organizations located outside of the EU, if they offer goods or services to, or monitor the behavior of, EU data subjects. That includes all EU citizens regardless of their geographical location of residence, as well as temporary residents of the EU. We fully recommend that if you are not GDPR-compliant, you should educate yourself and comply.
