Moreover, Melvin discussed the importance of actually listening to the community and interacting with key figures within the community, such as content creators and fans.

Stephen presented about the importance of using Instagram to reach younger audiences
Stephen from Secret Tour gave us some deep insights into local as well as future trends in digital marketing. He stressed the importance of Instagram stories in marketing to younger generations who don’t necessarily want to use Facebook, as they consider Facebook to be “their parent’s generation”. The takeaway point for the presentation is to try to create a marketing moment which results in people talking about it over lunch.

Jonny talked about the rise of eSports, and other uses of digital technology in sports
Jonathan Stark, a partner in Brunswick Group, gave a more high-level presentation regarding the use of digital technology in the sports sector for communicating and engaging with its community. eSports was given a brief overview as the next big thing in sports. Jonathan also highlighted some good, bad, as well as controversial use of technology in the sports industry.

A panel discussion rounded out the formal part of the programme, and the guest speakers took questions from the audience.
